I’ve been having trouble maintaining my cool and keeping patience, especially since there’s only a few weeks left of school and we’re all a little stressed out over that fact. Last week, I asked a colleague how she maintains her cool since I’ve never seen her lose it at school. The key, she told me, is to think of something complete different, something that involves steps or a variety of ways to complete. When a student is losing it, she told me that she stands there and though it looks like she’s listening to the rant, but she’s really thinking of snowflakes or the many ways to slice up a watermelon. So I tried it this week and it worked! Who knew that those two things could be so calming?!
