For my delightful siblings and gorgeous friends who are parents… and to all my single teacher friends who can also hardcore relate!

Educated
I started an announcement to my class today by saying “TBH.”
I swear, I have an advanced degree…

The Blame Game
He says he can’t pass my class because I talk too fast. I have a sinking suspicion there’s a different reason…

Teaching During Covid
I’m so overwhelmed by grading right now. And I’m grading for at least an hour EACH DAY. Each of my classes needs at least two different versions, which means different needs, and sometimes different assignments.
Covid teaching is for the birds. Thank god for my colleagues, supportive friends and family, and understanding parents. Without you, I’d be more batshit crazy than I am right now!
Choose your hard?
I think this is an essential lesson to learn AND share with your students. All students. The privileged need to hear it as much as the underprivileged do.
In this regard, the American dream is false. Everyone cannot “pull themselves up by their bootstraps” without having either a strong self-motivation or a strong support system. With either or both of those things, it is still difficult.
America isn’t for the brave and intrepid anymore, it’s all about greed, selfishness, and making money the quickest way possible. I hope we can change this, but it will take an overhaul of the education system AND the average parents’ parenting “style.”

Student: What is today’s date?
Me: October 19th.
Student (worried): What is tomorrow’s date?
Me ( ): If today is the 19th then…
Student: Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuudge!
Me ( ): And again, for the people in the back, maybe you should smoke less!
